Let me tell ya, if you’re looking for ways to make your wedding a rad party, look no further for inspiration than Maria and Thomas’ Albuquerque wedding. This entire day was full of high energy and excitement, which made photographing it a blast!
I started the day by looking around the venue, Nature Pointe, and capturing some of their details. Maria and Thomas are big outdoorsy people, so the National Parks as table numbers fit them perfectly!
I could tell pretty quickly the bride and groom both have a ton of friends. So it was an honor to hang out with them and all of their friends on this day!
It’s not often that I get a specific photo request from a groom, so I was very excited when Maria told me what Thomas wanted to do with his guys. As they are all really big sports fans, Thomas thought it would be fun to do the classic “arena walk-ins” that you see professional athletes doing.
The fun with this group of groomsmen didn’t stop there. They kept the light-hearted energy up throughout the whole day! They are such a tight-knit group which made my job easy!
During the ceremony, the guests also had an excitement about them that could be felt.
Thomas’ reaction to his bride was super genuine and even had me tearing up behind the camera. Her beauty seriously blew him away.
Side note: The high for Albuquerque on this day was 102! I was so impressed with how well everyone handled the heat!
Their Gospel-centered ceremony ended with communion between Maria and Thomas.
We followed the ceremony with family and wedding party photos. Everybody was such a good sport and went along with any pose ideas that anyone suggested!
I was then able to take some bridal portraits with the couple while the guests enjoyed cocktail hour.
Maria and Thomas met at the University of New Mexico on their ultimate frisbee team. They are both VERY athletic. I learned this when Maria was doing push-ups earlier in the day to get the nerves out!
I also found out that they had both ran a marathon in New Mexico the Wednesday before their wedding!
Next up on the agenda for this Albuquerque wedding: dinner and toasts. It was special to be able to listen to their loved ones rave about how lucky both Maria and Thomas were to have found one another. It was a true testament to this couple’s care and love for those around them.
We were having so much fun at their reception, that all of a sudden, the sun was setting! The three of us had to run through the parking lot to catch the sunset, which, as you can imagine was pretty easy for this couple! And, I would like to add, totally worth it!
We were all ready to go back in and get the party started. Can I just take this moment to get on a soapbox real quick? If I could give you one piece of advice for your wedding, it would be to hire a photographer of course. BUT if I could you give you a second piece of advice for your wedding, it would be to hire a DJ.
I have noticed that DJs are almost essential in helping the day run smoothly. It’s so nice to just hand someone the schedule, and let them do the rest! I had the privilege of working with Cisco from Round the Way Entertainment and he was awesome!
The energy of the guests combined with Cisco’s expertise made the dance party phenomenal.
And then it was time to send these sweet newlyweds off! Nature Pointe staff was really helpful and on top of things throughout the entire day. They also provided these indoor sparklers to make the send-off even more special!
After meeting Maria and Thomas, I think it’s safe to say that this exciting Albuquerque wedding was perfect for them. It is never lost on me how priviledged I am to get to step into one of the most important days of someone’s life. Thanks so much for letting me be a part of it and congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Suarez!
