“Hey! It is a bit muddy, I would definitely suggest wearing shoes with traction!” That was the message I received from Izzy the day before this Southern Colorado Mountain wedding. Colorado has experienced an usually rainy August this year. Since it had been raining most of the week, we were excited to see what the day would bring!
As we were driving to the location of this wedding, we had mostly been experiencing rain and stormy skies. All of a sudden, though, it was sunny! And it honestly stayed that way most of the rest of the day!
I love that my day usually gets to start with the details! Izzy had the cutest accessories and I could not get over her dress and flowers!
She had one of her bridesmaids do her make-up while another commented, “Isn’t it nice to have friends who know how to do things?” And I couldn’t agree more with this sentiment! I love when the bride tribe comes together to make it happen!
As Izzy got ready, I asked her some questions about this gorgeous family-owned property. I learned that while the property itself has been in the family for generations, Izzy’s mom and dad built the cabin we were in! Izzy and Clay were the first to ever get married here and I have a feeling they won’t be the last!
One aspect that I adored about this wedding was the camaraderie that went into the whole day! We learned that they built the benches for the ceremony themselves!
Izzy’s sister, Mia, wore a lot of hats for the day. One of them being the wedding cake baker and decorator!
It felt like a big family reunion when the ceremony started!
In fact, the entire ceremony left you with that same feeling. Like one big, happy family! It was a very relaxed and lighthearted time together.
Everyone was visibly so excited to celebrate Izzy and Clay becoming one at this Southern Colorado mountain wedding!
One sweet touch was a blessing and a prayer that were read over them by some of their family members.
It’s always fun to hear about how all of the wedding party knows the bride and groom. This crew came from all walks of life: ballet class, cousins, neighbors, college, you name it!
The entire time we were taking these pictures, there was thunder booming overhead! We could feel the storm approaching, but it made for some fun light and great memories!
One of Izzy’s family friend’s, Kelly, did her flowers! Kelly started a flower farm this year and I am so impressed! If you have a Colorado wedding coming up, check her out at Rays of Sunshine Flower Farm! These arrangements were so bold and vibrant!
We, of course, had to give some camera-time to Peanut and Gunner, Izzy and Clay’s sweet pups who were roaming around all day!
You may remember from their engagement blog, that I have known Izzy since high school. (She’s the one that tried to convince me to join the cross-country team.)
I have now taken her senior, engagement, AND wedding photos! What a special job I have to be able to capture some of life’s biggest moments!
Izzy is the sweetest, most genuine person and I feel the same way about Clay just from the couple of times I’ve met him! You could not get a more made-for-each-other couple!
Remember when I said it was a whole team effort to make this wedding happen? Izzy’s mom, Nitschka, made so much of the food for the day! They also recruited more family to help serve all of the food! I love it!
While everyone was eating is when it started: the rain! And it pretty much did not stop from there on out! But that also didn’t stop the party!
The newlyweds first cut into the beautiful cake followed by a super romantic and rainy first dance!
This moment between Izzy and her dad was super intimate and emotional.
Clay’s mom told me that neither of them really dance, but I loved that they took the time to share this sweet moment together regardless.
This was a fun crew! I noticed right away that the party still went strong even with the rain coming down outside.
Everyone was having a blast dancing inside the tent!
As the party continued, I got to sneak off with the couple to grab some more photos! We went to a spot that was super close to where they got engaged! This property holds so many special memories for them!
The rain stopped for us and the fog started rolling in. How epic are these photos?!
Izzy and Clay, thank you for inviting me in to so many special moments in your life! I couldn’t be more excited for the two of you! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Tucker!
