Lion’s Den Elopement- Angie and Chris

Angie and Chris are from South Carolina! When Angie reached out to me on Tiktok, she told me they were planning to elope in Durango and mostly cared about one thing: the views! I had just the location in mind and this Lion’s Den elopement turned out to be perfect!

Well, perfect that is until I walked up to our spot and saw a giant snake just chilling there! When I told Angie and Chris about it, they were such troopers and said, “Let’s just go for it!” Thankfully, the snake had disappeared when we all ventured up again together.

I felt so honored to get to be a part of their special day. It was such an intimate and sweet moment between these two, who obviously had an immense amount of love for each other.

It was a bit windy this afternoon, but I was thankful the wind died down for a few moments to capture their vows and their kiss afterward!

Our local vendor, April’s Garden, provided these beautiful flower arrangements!

I loved being able to take photos of some of Angie and Chris’ details from the day. Each of these stones have special significance to Chris and he has them with him every day. Angie carried some of her family members on her bouquet with her as they couldn’t be there in person.

As I was capturing this Lion’s Den elopement, Angie and Chris filled me in on a little story from the day before.

They rode the Durango train and had to wait a while on their trip due to some maintenance issues. As they waited, Angie and Chris got to know the couple next to them who were celebrating their anniversary.

As fate would have it, the lady from the other couple turned out to be an ordained minister! They decided to officially get married right then and there on the train!

They had all of the other passengers on their car act as witnesses and the wedding party. I thought this was such a fun story that showed their adventurous personalities!
