Beautiful views, heart-warming stories, and a dog named Dennis; this Coyote Hill Lodge wedding had them all! You may remember from their engagement shoot, that Krystal and Kendall are from Texas, but they ended up getting both engaged and married in Pagosa Springs, Colorado!
I had never taken photos at Coyote Hill Lodge before, but I ended up loving it for multiple reasons! 1. The views! 2. The fact that you can rent out the whole place as an Airbnb! How fun is it that the wedding party and the family all got to stay in the same place for a few nights before the wedding??
I am obsessed with all of the details that Krystal had. She incorporated the Texas flair while staying true to her sparkly- loving style! My kinda gal!
We had to snap a couple of shots of these gals in their cute pjs that perfectly matched their dresses!
Okay, one of the sweetest parts of the day was watching Kendall and his sweet Mama, Erinn. Erinn could barely stand to even talk about Kendall without tearing up. The moment between these two when she pinned on his boutonniere was one of my faves!
Then it was Krystal and her mom’s turn! I love all of these special moments with the mamas!
Let’s talk about this arch (and, of course, the beautiful flowers from Mountain Belle Flower Farm) that set the scene for their ceremony! I found out later that Kendall and his dad built the arch and Krystal’s mom added the flowers to it! I loved it already, but knowing those details made it even more remarkable!
It was time for the ceremony to begin, and, as promised, I present Dennis- one of the ring bearers! And we can’t forget his even cuter companions!
Krystal’s brother, Ricardo, officiated their ceremony- another super sweet and personal touch to the day!
During the ceremony, Ricardo shared a story about Kendall impressing Krystal with his magic tricks when they first started dating. During one of the tricks, he wrote, “You are my…” on one of the cards and proceeded to present her with the Queen of Hearts. Remember this for later. 🙂
The day started off a little windy and was even threatening to rain at times. The overcast sky ended up creating the perfect lighting for the ceremony though!
Time for some bridal party pics! Krystal’s bridesmaids included her sister and two of her friends she attended nursing school with. One of them actually works at the same hospital on the same floor as Krystal!
When I asked the groomsmen how they all knew each other, they answered in unison with two words: “High school!”
We couldn’t believe it when Krystal pulled out that same Queen of Hearts from her bouquet! Kendall also had held onto the King of Hearts that Krystal had given him later. So of course we had to get a picture of them!
Now for probably one of my favorite parts of the day: couple portraits! Krystal and Kendall were troopers as I made them hike down and up a fairly large hill at 7,000 feet of elevation. But I think it was worth it for these photos!
I was delighted when I found out that Serious Texas BBQ was catering this Coyote Hill Lodge wedding! They always have the nicest servers and some super delish barbecue!
Kendall’s sweet sister, Erica, made the cake, and let me tell you, it tasted as good as it looked!
As Kendall and Krystal took the floor for their first dance, there was a moment that I noticed something and put my camera down to just watch. These two were staring into each other’s eyes so lovingly and tenderly the ENTIRE TIME. I could tell in this moment that nothing else compared to the love they share. It truly warmed my heart.
And, of course, the father-daughter and son-mother dance left most in the room with a tear in their eye.
Remember that big hill I talked about earlier? Well, as dinner and speeches were finishing up, I mayyyy have made the newlyweds take another trek down that hill to capture some sunset photos! Again, worth it, in my opinion!
Joe from Aiko Aiko Sound really got the party going with some country classics and Latin music!
The night ended with the garter and bouquet tosses followed by cutting the cake!
I am so thankful Krystal and Kendall’s story led them to Southwest Colorado! It has truly been a joy and honor to capture some of the happiest moments of their lives! Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Murray!
