The Ceremony: Wedding Day Tips Part 2

January 24, 2025

We are back for part 2 of our wedding day tips series! This time, we will be discussing the ceremony and all of the ways to get the best pictures during it! Proceed with caution: this post contains a lot of first kisses! 🙂

1. Consider the Lighting

You may see this become a common theme for these blogs. Light seriously makes ALL the difference for photos. Here’s a helpful hint! The timing of the ceremony is a huge factor in this. My recommendation would be to have your ceremony around 2 hours before sunset! The middle of the day is the harshest lighting, so just keep that in mind when planning the ceremony!

    2. Request that your OFFICIANT step out of the way for the first kiss

This may seem like something you should’t have to do, because you would think it would be instinctual for the officiant, right? Well, from my experience, it is not. Usually your officiant is someone who is very important in your lives and they are just as caught up in the emotion and excitement of the day as everyone else! Therefore, they can often get stuck right in the back of your first kiss photos. A little reminder is always super helpful for them!

      3. Take your TIME!

Let’s be real. Sometimes it’s not theee most comfortable thing to kiss in front of all of your friends and family. I get it. But the ceremony is definitely the place to take your time with your first kiss! It can be a tad stressful for your photographer if you just do a quick peck! So, blame it on me and linger a little bit. 🙂

        4. PAUSE and kiss (or pose!) mid-aisle on your way out

These always end up being some of my favorite shots! It’s so fun to get a little snapshot of you and yourr guests celebrating your love at the end of the ceremony!

          5. Use rose petals or bubbles for your EXIT

This is such a simple (and inexpensive) trick to make your photos even that much more exciting and dreamy! Have your guests throw some petals or blow some bubbles to add more magic to your final mid-aisle shot!
