Okay, let’s be real. Most of us don’t have money growing on trees and most of us also know that weddings are NOT cheap. But what if you need it to be!?
I was a 19 year old bride. I feel ya.
BUT! Despite having like $400 in my bank account, I made a list of all of the things that I absolutely had to have on my wedding day. What was #1? Wedding. Photos.
All I cared about was having beautiful pictures of the day that changed my life forever. I had family members contribute to the “photography fund” as wedding gifts, I set money aside, and I managed to book an incredible photographer for 6 hours on my wedding day. For Full Price!!!
There were two things that drove this decision: I valued professional photography, and I knew that even if I had to compromise on some of the temporary details of my wedding day I would have incredibly beautiful images that I cherish so very much.
If you are getting married on a tight budget, I see you. I hear you! Here’s what might help.
- Look into photographers that offer payment plans!
- Professional photography is an investment, but just like any other big expense… It’s worth it.
- Make a list of the 3 most important parts of your wedding day
- Maybe you can’t afford booking a photographer for an entire day, and THAT’S OKAY! Instead of just calling it quits, make a list of the three things you are dying to have captured on your wedding day, and try to fit those into a timeline that works within your budget. The possibilities are endless.
- Count the cost of having no photos
- This might sound cliche, but wedding photos are TIMELESS. Instead of thinking about the next 6 months, think about the next 60 years. My grandparents just celebrated their 51st anniversary, and the photos they have of their wedding day are worth more than any price tag on the planet.
- Secondly, we all know that wedding days are chaos. What happens if Uncle Tom forgets to take a picture of the first kiss because he’s too caught in the moment (which he should be). Hiring a photographer is WORTH knowing that those moments are documented forever.
So, if you are like this 19 year old bride, you might not have loads of money to pour into your wedding. But, investing in pictures is so so worth it and I would do it over again and again.
You will never regret investing in something that lasts forever!
